Video to music by Waschering Maschine. Waschering Maschine is Billy Franklin - bass, samples; Reid Kruger - drums, rhodes; Tom Schroeder - guitar, narration; Jonathan Zorn - analog synthesizer. Excerpts from Vachel Lindsey's "Art of the Moving Picture" are organized as a narrative over the music, a lunatic text of original cinema awe. Finally, public domain silent films are edited to support the arguments of both Lindsay and Waschering Maschine. Brian Judd adds an introduction as Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch.
My friend, Lauren, is doing a recording project with me right now. She is such a talent and a wonderful collaborator. We made this video for the NPR Tiny Desk competition. So we included a desk in the shot (it was mandatory)... and added a bar and a soccer ball. rjk
